Physical Therapy
InStep offers full-service, expert, individualized outpatient physical therapy care for orthopaedic, spine, work and sports injuries, back and neck pain, post-surgical rehabilitation, overuse injuries, soft tissue dysfunction, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel, TMJ, chronic pain dysfunction and more.
At InStep, we develop a comprehensive physical therapy and rehabilitation program. Our evaluation includeds assessment of your movement patterns to help identify movement imbalances. Along with physical therapy modalities, our treatment incorporates soft tissue and manual therapy techniques to help restore moition in your tissues and joints. We provide therapeutic exercises and neuromuscular retraining to help restore muscular strength and control, and develop a personalized home exercise program for self management and maintenance of your condition.
Massage Therapy
Licensed massage therapists can provide therapeutic, deep tissue, sport and relaxation massages. Special massage packages and gift certificates are available.
Athletic Training
In Step's licensed athletic trainers offer services for the prevention, treatment and reconditioning of athletic injuries. A licensed athletic trainer can assess your sports injury and recommend appropriate care, which may include a corrective exercise program, advice on technique or referral to your physician.
Biomechanical Evaluations
InStep offers brief and comprehensive running and cycling evaluations.
The Brief Running evaluation is utilized for runners looking for a video taped analysis to determine and confirm the appropriate shoe and custom fit.
The Comprehensive Running evaluation includes a video taped analysis of walking and running, recommendation for footwear and/or orthotics, prescription exercise program, and full clinical evaluation. This evaluation is utilized for runners dealing with an injury; with biomechanical concerns; seeking to maintain or return to desired level of activity, or seeking correct footwear or orthotic selection.
The cycling evaluations follow similar parameters from the brief evaluation centering on appropriate bike fit, to the comprehensive evaluation including a detailed injury and fit assessment.
VO2 Max/Lactate Threshold
InStep offers VO2MAX testing in order to better assess your cardio-respiratory fitness. This state of the art technology can be used as guide to develop specific heart rate training zones in order improve your efficiency, endurance and health.
Orthopaedic/Sports Medicine Supplies
InStep carries medical grade home therapy supplies including balance discs, BOSU balls, exercise bands, plantar fascia night splints and socks, massage tools, hot and cold packs, braces for backs, knees, and ankles, tennis elbow straps, and more.
Orthotics
InStep’s Physical Therapists can recommend and provide the appropriate orthotic inserts for you. InStep can provide over-the-counter, semi-custom and custom molded orthotic inserts depending on your biomechanical needs. We take into consideration your foot and lower extremity biomechanics, injury concerns, and activity demands to design a device that’s right for you.
Reuse-A-Shoe Program
We are a proud partner with Nike and the City of Milwaukee in collecting used athletic shoes. These shoes are recycled and turned into brand new athletic surfaces to benefit the youth of Milwaukee while at the same time conserving resources and landfill space.
Social Runs
Group runs are held out of our Delafield, Franklin and Milwaukee 3rd Ward locations. The schedule is as follows:
Franklin - Saturdays @ 8 a.m.
Delafield - Thursdays @ 6:15 p.m.
Milwaukee - Thursdays @ 6:30 p.m.

Yoga Classes
Classes are currently held at the Franklin location. Students will learn how yoga helps to balance the body, mind and spirit. Classes cover basic yoga postures, breathing techniques, and meditation/relaxation skills. Classes are led by Mary Hanneken, who is a licensed physical therapist and a certified yoga instructor. Beginner Running Classes
InStep is offering a beginning running course called "Running 101" starting in April at our Milwaukee and Delafield locations. The course will lead up to a 5k race. The goal of the program is to introduce running in a safe and enjoyable manner. Features of the program include the following:

- Weekly schedule tailored to your abilities
- Proper shoe fitting
- Discounts on products
